Hi Paul, sounds great! presumably the downsides are having to dispose of excavated material to make way for the storage capacity, and having to use energy to pump water back up? But if you can use the spoil for landscaping on site, that all helps. Would be interested in doing something similar myself, will have to see if clients can be persuaded!

we have been installing water harvesting driveways now for over a year free water from under your driveway patio's can you real get any more recycling than that ,no plastic water tubs needed !

Hi Karl, the brochure you sent was pretty thorough but I am just not sure how to weigh up the footprint of substances like polyurethane polymers against other materials! in its favour, your product is long lasting and uses recycled materials, whereas real timber deck is hard to source sustainably (hardwoods anyway) and may need chemical treatments...

Rose, last year I completed a decking project using boards made from recycled materials. They were just as easy to use as wood only a little heavier and the finish was just as good. The only thing I would say is make sure you use grooved boards as they can be slippery.

T&S plants for me its very important and I will choose non-peat grown plants over peat grown. Every year I exhibit at the Sandringham flower show and they specify non-peat grown plants in the gardens only as the whole siteis run as an organic site.

Thinking about using synthetic deckboards vs natural materials on the North side of a house where real timber will quickly go green.  The product I'm looking at is made with recycled materials bound together with polyurethane polymers.  These are petrochemical based, and I'm trying to weigh up the sustainability of these boards vs other materials.  Anyone know of a good site to help make this sort of decision? Or any opinions yourselves?

As a Commercial Grower we grow all of our Hardy Nursery Stock in Peat-Free compost.

My question is, who cares?

Speaking with many Growers over the past few months, this is around number 15 on their list of priorities.
