Cheers Robbie, will give it a go and the hot water trick sounds a good idea.

Hi Gareth

I used to use the Ferrous Sulphate straight and apply it out of a fertiliser spreader. Not only do you run a high risk of burning the lawn you also get it round you and in flower beds ect, it's also expensive.

If you give the Soluble Ferrous Sulphate a go chances are you won't go back to using the fertiliser spreader method.

I usually mix the stuff up in some hot water (although it's not necessary).

Headland Soluble Iron

I'm just about the purchase some high iron based mosskiller/lawn tonic. I was going to stock up on lawn sand but with the high postage costs may go for Soluble Ferrous Sulphate this time. I would apply via large nap sack. Do you find any issues with the nozzle blocking up? (I used some rather old stock recently and it had a few small lumpy bits in it!). Is it as quick to apply in liquid form rather than using a granular spreader?

As Robbie said, Soluble Ferrous Sulphate, fast green up with no growth. Also helps in disease resistance but if moss in the lawn it will turn it black.

Hi Mike, a quick and easy boost is to apply some iron.

Another cheap and cheerful way is lawn sand.

Looking for the best product to green up a lawn. No weed killer element needed. Any suggestions please?

Hi, I have a customer who wants us to re-turf their front garden, and path leading to the back gate. He has also asked for the path (approx 10m long) to be reinforced with mesh, as he occasionally takes a heavy wheelbarrow down it. Any suggestions as to make/installations etc? I am in the Beds/Bucks area. Thanks

Anybody had a positive experience at stimulating soil activity in order to break down thatch under a fine red fescue lawn?
