I do tree work and logs, gutter cleaning, greenhouse cleaning, fence and shed painting (in good weather), snow and ice clearing, and anything else i can find to do.
I couldn't just sit at home, i like to get out there, there's always something to do!
I get a winter income from my maintenance contracts plus a couple of domestic regulars who maintain winter visits. There is the odd one-off job but other than that I don't chase other lines of work, I catch up on life a bit.
Well said Dan.

Amen to that
If work comes along, all well and good, otherwise relax a little and have some family time
with maintenance contracts and odd jobs i usually get 2.5 to 3 days a week minimum which is fine for me

As long as it's not below freezing/snowing then the window cleaning/gutter cleaning business carries on as normal. Run up to Christmas is probably the most busy of the year.
We do like a decent Christmas break if we can but other than that unless the weather defeats us its still a 5 day week.
We make fire baskets and grates in the winter, although this year the season seems to have started early.
Fenland Ironworks fire baskets
They looks Fab, phil!
Lots of commercial contract work and 12 months payments schemes = December to January holidays in nice sunny climes supping beer and having 'me time', with my staff taking care of any ad hoc work that comes in.
fish go round :)
