Just heard an expert from the US talking about this on 5Live Gary. He says we (on this side of the pole) will very likely get the opposite that the US gets. In 2008 we had a hard winter whilst N America was unusually mild.
Joy:-) plus one
Im seeing only temps down to 1 or 2 degrees c in late nov early dec.The last time when there was a polar vortex over the uk it kicked of a low pressure conveyor belt.
I am not seeing any serious frosts for the next two weeks for the south and midlands.
i do weather forecsats if you want to look. I clear snow and grit for a living so i am damn sure i get it right :) AJ
I need to be careful what I say.
I recently predicted a short sharp snap in early November...it didn't happen.
I think I even owe LJN No2 I mean Gary RK a curry for getting it wrong last year too:(
What I will say is that 10 years ago I moved to France and we had a very warm October that year. In the middle of November we had 25C.
This year is the same. Today we've had +20C.
The Jet Stream hovers overhead and is keeping cold weather to the north.
What worries me is that history is about to repeat itself. Ten years ago we went from +25C in November to -21C in January.
The US situation doesn't bode well. I guess we'll see shortly.
I'm not a number, I am a free man
Anyway, our gritters are ready, snow ploughs and shovels nice, bright, clean and at the ready. Grit standing by. Never know whether I want it or not....

I actually hope it does happen as I'm on gritting call for my day job for the next 4 months with a very high increase in wage for it, bring on a very happy christmas ;)
I'm more than happy if it snows!
Snow shovels and construction shovel sales rise. However its very ironic when UPS can't deliver said snow shovels, due to the snow.
simon you should supply the couriers to! ;)
