Which weather forecast do you use / believe?

I check the Met Office and the BBC every day and night. Sometimes they are both completely different, sometimes they are both the same but wrong. Occasionally they are both accurate.

We don't have a problem working in the rain as we are called "Rain-or-Shine" but sometimes it does help if I can plan around the weather.

I've tried looking out the window when I get up at 6:00am, smelling the air while walking the dog and asking my Nan what her tea leaves say! All to no avail :-)

Just wondered what sites other people use?

  • Skin is waterproof.. thats what i say. unfortunately not all tasks in need of completion are waterproof.. I gave up looking at weather apps and reports. just resort to hope now.

  • I like www.accuweather.com - its usually fairly accurate but also sometimes completely wrong as they all are! Otherwise I hear old pinecones can tell you a lot about imminent rain :)

  • i'm with Matt on this one....hope!!

  • I use netweather.tv or accu weather as that's on my phone.
  • I rely on the met office, checked every hour, as they tend to retrospectively change it, combined with a bit of guess work! Take today for example...if i'd trusted their forecast, and the BBC's satellite image, I wouldn't have even got out of bed... but after a few hours of light drizzle it turned into a lovely afternoon. Their definition of "heavy rain" is very different to mine.

Just a thought... the guys on the TMS cricket commentary use a real-time satellite imaging website to good effect. But that's more for 60 minute forecaasts i suppose.

  • waste of time. if I relied on any forecast id never get out of bed and get any work done. Working outside all the time you get to know pretty well what the weather is going to do. If were pointing a patio, we've all got an eye on the sky and everybody knows what to do double quick if the weather changes. Today was lashing it down in the morning and then bright and sunny this afternoon. we all had waterproofs on, getting muddy spreading mot on a driveway and installing the drainage.

In the words of jack sparrow, keep a weather eye on the horizon me hearty's!

  • listen for rain patter in the morning, wind noise/speed ! feel the cold !

its so localised everywheres different in the next village.

I agree get up / get outside and look. - although i think its been awful last 2 weeks.

if its dry spray / mow , i dont like using ladders / cutting trees/hedges in rain.

water makes a mess of everything especially landscaping... turfing i need to do and topsoil !

Metoffice seems to be right more often than wrong as they have a much larger number of surveillance points than most other weather stations.

BBC Weather is run in association with the Met Office so they should say the same thing really...!

  • Frankly, None of them.

  • I look at both bbc and met office, but believe neither - don't know why I bother actually!
