If you want to keep to "budget" style and are ok with WiFi /using hot spots, fully recommend Tesco's Hudl.
Even better they are selling them off at the moment as the new Hudl-2 is due out this month.
Look on Tesco Direct, load of cheap accessories, such as covers etc.
Each of the Teams have one with some key Apps and they sync back in the Yard via Three mobile broadband - MiFi.Cheap enough that if the worst happens it's a 'softer blow' :-)
I'm an iPad fan, but was impressed with them and there's no shame with them - fully functional with 7" screen
You order them online to collect in your store (and it's free 'delivery')
£20 is £20 - it pays for in car adapter, cover etc
There's nothing much cheaper that is supported so well at retail level
Hi Mitchel,
Ive got an asus nexus 7 that is a little belter, and you would no doubt be more than able to download suitable apps for what you want to do, but on the road i still use an a4 week to view diary day to day, as the problem with technology like tablets and the like is if you drop the bugger or it decides to die on you all your info has gone. the only way i could lose my info is if i lose the diary! Plus no one will break my van window for a tatty old diary which i leave on the seat all day.If you do choose to use a tablet, make sure you back up all your stuff onto your home laptop/desktop everyday.
It's a mindset issue as to whether you go with technology or stick with pen & paper. I still have notepad to hand in the van for those 'senior moments'...
In over year (more for me) we've never had a breakage and we've a number of them.
Most useful Apps are cloud based with local tablet cache, so as soon as in range you're sync'd, hence backed up'd :-)

I bought a cheap (£130) 7" Asus MeMO Pad tablet this year, did the job although I found the tethering to be a bit on the slow side. For the price it was a no brainer.
Next year I intend to buy something with a bigger screen (easier to work from) and an LTE 4G flavour. Doesn't need to be high end as I won't be using it for gaming or anything like that (I own a gaming PC). Although I fancy the Sony Xperia tablets as they are waterproof. Hopefully by the time I go to buy the 10" Xperia Z2 will be more affordable as the next model is about to hit the shops now...
I can't do it with O2 as I've an totally unlimited data usage on my phone and they block you :-(
