I want to hold an LJN AGM is March/April and I'd like to know where to hold it.

Before we decide on the location it would be good to know who would like to attend.

I'd envisage an afternoon meeting culminating in evening meal and at a pub/restaurant/hotel.

I do appreciate that taking time off of work and travel is costly hence the reason for this thread.

Once we get some feedback we can formulate a plan.

For the record, if there's enough interest, I am happy to have more than one meeting.

Please leave suggestions.

We have discussed this when trying to fix on a venue for national meetings in the SGD. What we find is that a geographical central location is not necessarily the most easily accessed. It is often easier and cheaper for a delegate from Scotland to get to London than to Leeds. It does make sense, however, to have several meetings, based on a regional transport hub.

Hi Phil,

I would be really interested in attending, in my work I promote the benefits of your network to our clients regularly, so meeting other users would be intersting and beneficial. I would also be happy to talk to anyone who wants to listen about the work of Perennial which is the charity that helps horticulturists in times of need. I am based near Bristol but as I cover the south west for Perennial I am happy to travel anywhere on M5 M4 M42. If it helps we have a national team and after years of trying different places found that hotels near East midlands airport were the easiest for people travelling from all directions.

milton keynes, easy to find, ramada hotel reasonable too.

Looking at the map, I think I could do three locations in one week (happy to extend a day if anyone feels I'm not being flexible enough).

If I fly into Stanstead on the Tuesday 03 April on the early evening flight, I could hold a meeting around the Reading/Oxford area on Wednesday 04 April. travel to the Sheffield area for Thursday 05 April, up to Edinburgh/Glasgow for the Friday 06 April and then I can tonk on down to make the late afternoon flight back to Bergerac on Saturday 07 April.

All meetings could be scheduled for around 6pm with meal afterwards.

I am happy to travel in on the Sunday or Monday to extend the time available (as long as there is a demand).

Please do let me know what you think about these timings and I can then drill down the venue for each.

Hi Phil would be delighted to welcome you to Scotland, Edinburgh or Glasgow, are you hiring a car ?. If not happy to meet you at airport and pick you up

Phil you're a keen man. I would, of course, make it if there is a Central Scotland gathering. Glasgow-based personally but Edinburgh is fine. Thanks.

Hi Phil,

You might hit a problem here as Friday 6th April is Good Friday and that whole week is part of school Easter holidays. Having said that I am happy to attend the Reading/Oxford event on the Wednesday.

Oh dear, didn't even give Easter a thought Lindsey...thank you for pointing it out. I guess the half-term week is not good for most people?

The reason I've thought about shunting into April is because a) the evenings are lighter and the days potentially warmer (hopefully into spring) and Bergerac airport, which is just 25 minutes from me, is closed for runway re-furb right up until, potentially, end of March.

Thanks for your offer Brian

My thoughts are to hire a car for flexibility, I'll let you know if these arrangements change.

Dan/Brian/others, is a venue midway Edinburgh/Glasgow the best option?

I'm sure there will be something on the M8 corridor but would have to have a look / discuss with the other members from this area maybe a venue in Livingston area ?

Personally Phil I'm happy to go wherever suits you, be it a venue at one of the airports or whatever. I think Livingston is a bit dire to be honest :) , but Linlithgow is nice and surely has a venue or two. There is Stirling - McRobert Centre would be a good place. Glenskirlie Castle Hotel in Kilsyth, just some ideas.

Same here really  - April is going to be too busy to get away for a day.  I echo John - glad to attend at another time of year when less busy.
