Hello, I run a gardening business and have just taken on my first employee. I'm working my way through all the official stuff. Would anyone know where i can get a sample contract from or does anyone have one which they wouldn't mind me using as a template to work from. thanks lisa
I would suggest you visit the business link website . You are able to create your employment contract with relevant clauses and download it for future use . It will have all the current relevant info included. Also a great resource for practical business info .
Hello steve, I have had people working for me on a self employed basis for about three years but find that they are quite unreliable. Short notice for days off, long holidays in the summer. I have found myself getting through alot of staff, which is a major headache. I'm hoping if I employee this person properly, both them and i will behave in a more professional way, generating more work. I also have two part timers that will remain as self-employed. Employing people seems a bit daunting though, lots more paperwork!
Thanks Gary I will look at business link website

Hi lisa , have you not thought about asking the person you have taken on to go self employed himself ? ie having his own liability etc , it would save a headache etc
PM me and I'll send you a copy of our terms of employment. You just fill in the blanks.
Steve, it's illegal to employ people on a self-employed basis for more than about 3 minutes these days. The revenue closed that loophole years ago and if you have an inspection guess who's liable for all that unpaid tax and employers NI contributions?
