Can you clever plants-persons identify this for me please.

Thanks.

Late to the party I know but it looks like the Hottentot Fig to me, we used to grow them in Spain and they grew wild all over the place (Well feral at least)

Isn't the plant in the photo the Hottentot Fig, which is classified as an invasive species and should not be planted in the UK (although it won't survive the winter up here in Tayside)?

Hi Matt,
I live in Spain and we have them growing here and they aren't too much of a problem to control. In fact they're used in large beds in some public gardens.

Hi Andrew,
If I ever return to UK (which would probably be in a box), I'll remember your advice.
20 deg C and cloudless here today by the way. Spent a pleasant half hour pruning one of my bigger Oleanders :-)

Hi Bigyin, yeah I remembered about you being in Spain just as I posted! (short term memory loss sorry!) yeah the Spanish local authorities love them, I've also seen them growing all over the sandy cliffs along the coasts. The botanical gardens at Ventnor on the Isle of Wight have a pretty impressive display as well!
