There are words to describe people like that, but I'm too much of a lady to put them on this forum, just be thankful that you didn't agree to do the job in August this one could have been a nightmare!

Sue

mmhhh .....on this occasion me thinks : Discretion is the better part of valour ....

Move on to the next (profitable) customer.....

You will get this regularly Tony. You have done the right thing. Customers like this will always be trouble. As Gary says above, next customer please !

I think I might find my diary was booked out whenever he wanted the work done, I'm sure we have all come across this type of customer, we try to help but sometimes people don't help themselves...

I agree with the others move on to the next customer as he sounds like a pain in the #####; but the bigger problem may be the dispute over the fence, you may get caught in the middle of the trouble with whoever it is with; do you want them chirping in your ear complaining about everything that you are doing, time you are starting etc

If you have got other work, move on tell him your booked in and don't want the job lol

WALK!!
