what hope??

today is my 11th anniversary of me starting my business. This afternoon I received an email of a local government office confirming that they would like me to carry out a initial visit to a newly acquired site. Weeds to be removed around large offices (weed 3 ft high), along with grass cutting and collecting and disposal of grass (two and a half foot tall, approx 60m x20m). They also  requested a 3 weekly quote to their site to which I have not been succesful with. When I asked if I had been successful with the regular upkeep of the site I was told maybe one more cut this season as the season was nearly over. God Help, what hope. Never failed to be flabbergasted after 11 years.

  • Is it worth breaking your balls on the clearance work with no regular maintenance agreement ?

I wouldn't be interested in the one off job unless it was for top money and if your anything like me you would have quoted low for the tidy up so as to not put them off for the regular maintenance.

If the moneys not right then don't mug yourself off, tell them where to stick it.

  • Just give them a sepparate one off quote for the clearance work, it's better than nothing, then you will be on their list for next time ?  My way of doing things is, never refuse work.  Good luck....
  • take what you can get but charge appropriately ie £150 - £200 a day
  • initial visit was already priced separately, and as far as my price everything is covered as usual (margins fine). Just amazed that I was told that the season was nearly over
  • i have just looked at the long range forecast for august and the atlantic jet stream is heading south again after next week ,which means more precipitation

,i am concrened that customers might be about to give up on the season, which means we may be in for a long winter, has anyone else noticed that enquiires are slowing down.

I have about 6 weeks work because of the back log caused during the last few months .

I've noticed it's slowed down, but looking at previous years it always does about now with holidays etc.
