What does everyone in this business do on continous wet days when they can't get outside for work. What about the winter months.I have often thought of being like a ski instructor and having two jobs-one for summer and one for winter.Anyone want me to teach skiing?!

What waterproof jackets do you recommend. Whatever we use always leaks after a while.

We work all year round, rain, hail or snow. The guys get kitted with the best gear right down to wooly socks and thermal gloves, and we have a canopy to do wortar work in the rain - no excuse for not working !
And I thought everyone went on this site when it was bad weather!! What a hard bunch we all are.Out in all weathers, we should be proud of ourselves. We can tackle anything.

yes there's alimit in below freezing temperatures, but so far we always find something to do.

Hi Susan - what type of canopy do you use? Have considered using a aluminium gazebo type but I've seen these fold in high winds. Your suggestions Appreciated
I have tried a few canopies...the fold out ones 3x3 that they use in markets at around £100 were ok but the workings soon got stuck with mud. I now use the cheap lighter ones from the likes of Argos at £40 - and treat them as disposable...lasting a few months. You have to watch with the wind though, they can easily end up causing damage if swept away!

Wet weather gear...we have used cheap waterproofs and bought the guys 2 sets each ...but now tend to get them a good brand make, and they look after them better cos they know they cost a lot. Good for moral too. One of our guys bought an ex police jacket from ebay recently and says its the best he has ever tried...
Thanks Susan - will look at a cheaper version and perhps re-guy it

Always tempting to carry on working, but two years ago, carried on with a team of 6 throughout a wet cold day. We all then had mild hypothermia and were off work from 2 - 6 days, not cool. As such be really careful. Also really wet days good time to look into drainage solutions and brilliant weather to lay permeable surfacing.
