Hello,

I have now published my website please take a look if you find time, tell me what you think. Anything I need to add ? or take off ? it is quite basic but I will add to it as the business grows (hopefully!)  constructive criticism appreciated.

Hello,

I'm not an expert on websites whatsoever (hence i don't have one), so i tend to avoid commenting on website advice threads,

I liked your website, I thought it said what needed to be said without becoming long winded.

I liked the before and after photo's and i think you should add more of these as it demonstrates your workmanship in a visual way.

Not exactly constructive critisism, but it's how i saw it.

Good luck with it,

Hi Courtney, you need your address and postcode plus all the services you supply on the front page and lots more about your business and areas that you cover. The home page of a website is its shop window and needs to entice search spyders to your website to get you on googles main pages. Fill it with as much info as possible that contain "search terms" that potential customers would use to find you, thats vital. Photos with data tags are very important to so get more photos. If you havent got any of your own, you can buy them cheaply from the internet, google " gardening photos", "landscape garden photos" and theres catalogues of photos available to buy, and get free, just make sure you pick the right photos for your business. Also create back links to other websites, LJN is great for getting found on google. Create blogs and update them regularly. Building a good site thats found on google page 1 or 2 is trial and error, but probably the best thing you can do for ideas is look at LJNs members site and you will see what yours is missing/needing. Good luck.

Hi Courtney,

Try changing your title pages a little, you can keep in the 'Top garden services' just add home, about us, services, contact us on the relevant pages.

Add to the metatags, description and key words. These will help search engines to locate you, but keep them relevant to the page.

Hi Courtney,

Appears you've built your site using a template/hosting provider? If so, you'll be constrained by whatever online web editor is available for you to use? Are there any online tutorials to explain how you can add different things to your site?

If you have access to the server, and upload the edited pages yourself , then that's a different story.

Hello Ian,

Yes, I have used Yola to build website.

Courtney,

http://www.yola.com/tutorials/category/Adding_and_editing_content

Go to > 15. Links...>"Tutorial creating HTML anchor links"

Just to get you started, that tutorial should explain how you create links to other web sites.

Joining the Yola community forum would be really useful also.

Good luck!

Thanks for that Ian.

I was playing around with it last night and today and put a few extra links and pictures on website so hopefully looking a bit better and more information now.
