Website Portfolios

up until now, although i've now planted a grand total of over a 100 borders, i've not put a portfolio of pictures on my website.

I've spent quite a bit of time this year revisiting previous projects and taking photos so I want to get them added on.

My question is, what websites have you seen, - or recommend (yes please to recommending your own) that show their portfolio of projects, so that I can get some ideas as to how to lay out my own.

How many projects do people feel is enough? - too much?

  • you can never have enough photos of your work most of the big directories recomend around 12.
you can visit my gallery at www.resinbondedpaving.co.uk.
  • We can all waffle on about how great we are but a picture paints a thousand words...... flood your site with images

    Good on you.
  • Try taking the before and after image from the same location, this also helps those who find it difficult to visualise.
  • i've got lots of images on my website, - lots of pretty pictures (all my own) but I want a proper portfolio, with flipping round images (bit like yours on landscape juice page) - anyone got an examples from their website of that.

looking for where people site it on the website, how clients click on different projects.

ok, just being nosey at all the ways people do things.

great ideas so far, please keep them coming.

  • My site is all photos Claire because I sell products from it, on one page at the top I have a table of thumbnails where people click on the picture and it takes you to a description of the arch and a picture that can be clicked on to zoom to a bigger size. I have also embedded a video on the same page. Here is the link Garden arches I hope it helps.
  • Hi Claire

How about uploading all you photos on to Flickr.

Not only can your images be picked up on Flickr but you can also then bulk import them on to Your Network Page Photos or convert them into a Slide-show to embed in your website etc.
  • Our site, lushgardendesign.co.uk, is built on Wordpress using a portfolio/blog template from Elegant Themes.

I love Wordpress as a publishing platform, as it's extremely flexible and powerful, with a large community writing add-on code and templates. There are many free and paid for templates you can use - just search on Google for portfolio themes for Wordpress.
  • yes have been meaning to learn how to use flickr for some time (think i've managed to upload one photo somewhen)
