Website Changes and Simple Improvements.

Hi all,

as you may have read elsewhere, changes to any website take a little while to be recognized by Google and other search engines. They would be indexed quickly but any benefit for rankings normally takes a little longer.

So with the winter around the corner, now is always a good time to make improvements to your website as they will be indexed and the benefits will be flowing right in time for the new year and the spring when the searches for services dramatically increase once more.

Improving search engine rankings and the visibility of your website is an excellent way of gaining new customers, Google is the busiest high street and will be for a long time.

Now we are not going to say a few simple changes will have you in a dominating position for everything, it is obviously more difficult than that. But not everybody is starting from scratch. We see many websites that are pretty sound but have just done a couple of things wrong, and there for hindered themselves a little.

To try and bed in as part of the LJN we offering free of charge, to take a look at any website and we will try to make at least 3 recommendations that you can implement yourself and improve your chances of catching them customers.

Like we said earlier these won't see the site rocket, but may well score you a job here and there that you wouldn't have had.

For us to take a look, we will need the site and the service plus area you would like to be higher for. You can post it here or inbox us and we will get back to you.

Hope to speak with a few of you's soon

  • Hi Landscaper Rank

It certainly sounds interesting, do you have a name/personality or are you anonymous?

    Cheers, Eugene.

  • Hi Eugene,

My name is John, and I will be handling the mini inspections or health checks if anyone wants them, we have opened the supplier account as Landscaper Rank as we plan to do a lot of little give aways and case studies in the next 12 months and it won't always be me. There is a few of us, although your right I think I should of included my name! School boy error.

  • What do you think about website hosted by vistaprint etc....

    Can you help with them?

  • Hi,

It shouldn't really make a difference who the website is hosted with, If we were looking at trying to compete in super competitive industry like insurance, or finance then we would be looking at everything including hosts. But as our competitors are local landscapers who also use a wide range of DIY software and multiple CMS (content management systems)then its not really a priority. We would also add, if anyone is looking for a website that they can do little bits on themselves then we would recommend Wordpress and this alone. The amount of things you can do on this even as a beginner makes it easily the best option. We find DIY websites from hosts such as Yell, Vistaprint, BT etc very limited.

    Thanks

    John

  • Hi Simon,

Great to talk to you today,

I have found a couple of articles that are related to site structure as we discussed earlier, one is from a user experience and one for help search engines crawl your site.

Just to recapp, you need to layout your primary services even if its just 1 or 2 and make them clear and easy to find. Don't fill these pages with anything other than information about you, your business and this particular service.

By all means have the homepage as an overview about your business, but make sure the user can find information quickly and easily about individual services

Please see these links on site structure,

Good user experience tips - http://mashable.com/2011/04/10/5-web-design-mistakes/

Technical site structure tips - http://www.wordtracker.com/academy/learn-seo/technical-guides/creat...

the bottom line is, your customer should be able to find exactly what they want super quick, whether its about you, a particular service, or contact.

Call to action, like "contact us here" work well also.

once you have this implemented we would be happy to revisit, and make further recommendations.

    Thank You

    John
