True treehouses and raised platforms can be built in an infinity of ways and for almost an infinity of budgets.  Bolted into the tree, raised up on legs, supported by cable systems or a combination of these.

I've enjoyed building a few small ones but am wanting to develop both my skills and market for more ambitious projects.  Trouble is, I can't find anyone in the UK who offers tree house building instruction, via an organised course or on the job.  And such training could include of course design and construction techniques but also planning regs, insurance, maintenance issues etc.

Please get in touch here if you are interested either in a training or trainee capacity and perhaps we can bring together enough people to run some kind of course. Chris Swinburn

Hi Chris,

never entered my head before but when I saw your post I said- count me in on that one!

Hi Chris

What a great idea.

You may want to give Alan Berry: http://www.landscapejuicenetwork.com/profile/AlanBerry a nudge on this. Alan builds tree houses and he may be able to help too.

Hi Axel

only you and John have replied so far but I'll certainly try to build some momentum on tree house training and keep you in the loop.

oops I meant to write 'you and Philip',  not John.

Thanks for this tip Philip.  I'll nudge Alan re tree houses.

Sounds great to me!
That sounds like a great idea, I build decks and sheds etc. ive always wanted to build a tree house.

Be interested in a course on this definitely

.

I would be interested in this! Couldnt think of a job I would enjoy more!

That's more like it.  Now several of us are interested in tree house training.  I'll try and extend this interest and find both a suitable instructor and a venue.

I've attached a photo of a tree house I built this year in my own garden.

If any of you have any ideas/leads then please follow them.

Watch this space.

I popped this request out onto Twitter and received the following from European Trees.

"Aldous George of http://www.up-a-tree.com/ could help. He also does tree climbing courses for the layman."

Thanks Craig.  I'll check out this lead.
