Permalink Reply by Matt Brown on December 23, 2010 at 20:54 A burst compression joint in a 91 yr olds kitchen - 4"'s of water and no relatives to help her closer than 50 miles away.
Kitchen cleared up, plumbing sorted out and a bill of £12 for a new ball cock and valve...because she's and has been one of my best customers.
Sadly she's in nursing care and unlikely to come out alive.

proper payment. It is just another aspect of being a professional landscape gardener.

This was a conditional agreement with her niece...the condition being that I did not want any recompense for keeping and eye on the property.
I've enjoyed working for her, Bessie, looking after her garden for the last 5 years, having a chat a cuppa and a piece of cake.
Nearly blind, nearly deaf, terminally ill, relocated to the local hospital and now to a nursing home 50 miles away - she doesn't want to have to worry about minutia such as her little cottage. I'll happily deal with that.

It is the cake that makes all the difference, - I hope the karmic deposit account is listening Rowly.

It is something, someone told me about years ago, - think it means that whatever situation you find yourself in, it is down to yourself, past and present, acting positively without thought of gain can cancel out a negative situation, and enable you to move forward.

That's great - I can cancel out negatives and move forward positively. Something to concentrate on in the New Year John.
