Yet more conifer topping for the last few days, got so many cuts and scratches on my arms now it must look like im self harming. These ones hed never been topped before and were full of dead wood which made climbing them a bit challenging, also very tall. Found this dead stump from a cherry tree with some sort of fungus growing on it, anyone know what it is?

Two T shirts, two fleeces and Craghopper winterlined
walking trousers and waterproofs. Yuk !!!
Had to sit back today and watch the rain!

had to dig out the top of a large soak away today, and barrow the sandy soil to the front of the house where the customer is making a pond, he was busy creating that, then I refilled the hole with a large heap of topsoil that had come from the pond excavation,
Half way through I felt my back suddenly start to seize up, I soldiered on but I am now suffering, a couple of co-codamol and few tins of ale should ease it off for tonight, then tomorrow I'll have to take it easy.
Bloody back problems are a nightmare.

Today I started a nice new maintenance job - a nicely laid out, although a little overgrown, cottage garden style area.
Needed 'a little bit of grass cutting that is beyond my electric Flymo and electric strimmer' as the lady said on the phone....
The customer was quite frankly amazed when i fired up my Toro Proline 36", drove it out the trailer, straight through the the back gate into and through the long grass in the orchard, did a lap of the garden, dropped the deck and inch or so, did another lap of the garden, strimmed round the edges, did another lap with the Toro as the grass was drying nicely, then back through the orchard and back on the trailer.
Now the customer can see where the beds, borders and shrubs actually are and we have agreed a joint plan of action to tackle the rest of the jobs that need doing.
As always, having the right tools for the job does make life so much easier....

I see so many members of the public with long grass try to cut it in one hit and it makes a right mess it does take longer but in the long run the lawn looks better after several cuts reducing the height as you go also saves waring out the mower quicker. Great job Adam
