Don't be a busy fool..your health is more important than a few quid.
Invest in some good quality anti vibration gloves
i always wear them when strimming or hedge cutting work

I've had similar symptoms myself. In my case it was associated with carrying heavy bags of wet grass cuttings.
Chiropractor said I'd put something out in my neck and sorted me out there and then.
Get a second oppinion from a GP and consider seeing a chiropractor.

Permalink Reply by briggsandscrapem on July 13, 2011 at 20:50 Iagree with that. I suffered from cronic back pain for years. I had a lot of osteopath treatment over a year or so. That issue is fixed now.
For the last 18months I have been going every six weeks. There is alway something that needs putting right.
At £44 for 40mins it's not cheap but I have not missed a days work in ages. Touch wood
My doctors are rubbish. They offered me 10mins physio in 6 weeks time.
Best money I ever spend. There's nothing worse than sitting at home with a bad back knowing you're letting down customers.

Just caught up on your post.
Like all others, I would strongly recommend a Doctors opinion.
What I picked up on was your link re carpel tunnel syndrome. I am no expert but have come across this in the
past, through sports injuries. You would know if you had this - very painful above the wrist and very easy to fix. Can occur in any repetitive activity involving wrist movement- my ex who was a rower had the op to sort it out and he was one of many. The temptation to say something else here would not be appropriate!

Permalink Reply by Ena Ronayne on July 16, 2011 at 23:19 Hi Ian
Many years ago when employed as a gardener by one of Irelands' top garden designers my daily task for a few weeks was to help with shredding. Never again... all my fingers and hands tingled every evening and some times I would even wake up during the night with a tingling sensation in my hands and arms. I never sought medical advise because I knew it was as a result of using the shredder. That was over 10 yrs ago. Nowadays it should be a lot different as there are so many good products / protection equipment I should think that would help combat any repetitive injuries but lets face it, long term it must do some damage to ones nervous system!
Maybe you've just been pushing yourself too much and yes maybe it's time to contract work out or hire someone to help carry that work load! Or maybe you just need a little me time and that tingling is telling you so!
