Has anyone come across a timber preservative that is safe to use on raised vegetable beds ?

I'm building a raised bed vegetable garden using recycled scaffold boards and I've not come across anything that doesn't have to potential to leach out into the surrounding soil. One option I guess would be to back the boards with compost bags or simular ?

back the boards in thick polytheane and use some kind of 5star wood preserve, and then use a good quality oil or wax based stain, should last a bit then.
but when you add up all the messing about and cost of preserve ext you may be as well using green oak or sleepers mate
