What annoys you on a regular basis in this industry? (warning - this is a 'bob a job gardener-free' thread, we know that annoys you already.)

I've noticed people saying Gly-phos-phate

The British mentality of complaining about things.

Prospects that haven't the common decency to reply to a detailed pdf quotation....when approached its the same old....."Was just about to ring you".........mmmm,    coincidence or what?

I tend to avoid the problem by giving it it's correct name: 2-(phosphonomethylamino)acetic acid

People you have done a design and detailed quote for who then dont have the decency to tell you they have gone with another quote and then ignore you when you are keeping your diary open for them!! And then to top it off find out they are getting it done by another firm using your very own design.

Builders

Twitter, Facebook, late paying commercial customers and above all, customers who expect you to supply a 3 man, qualified, professionally kitted squad for £45.00 an hour !!!!!!!

Heres another for us, members with their profile page set to private !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ring any bells Duncan ??????  :-)

Suspicious residents/staff/general nosey parkers who are unfamiliar with you saying "can i help you ?" instead of "what are you doing ?" For some reason it gets right on my nerves.

"Can i help you ?"

"Yes certainly madam, would you mow that lawn over there for me please. I'd  change those high heels first though for something more suitable."

The twist and lock fuel cap on my sthil Km100 multi tool which is needlessly complicated and traps dirt and the height adjustment on my HRD Honda mower! Am i alone?

The same was getting my goat too. Often after following up a couple of days later, the job had gone elsewhere.

I now telephone and discuss the price before sending a .pdf quote, seems to work better for me that way. The prospect probably feels it's a more personal service too.

It also gives a chance to negotiate if price is the obstacle at an early stage.

"could you do this side of the hedge aswell?" from a customers neighbour

me - "Sure, that will be £40, could do it this evening if you like?"

Neighbour -"What? im not paying..."

my mind - how bizzare, I dont look like a mug do I?
