A beautiful sunny day here in Glasgow (honestly) has been somewhat marred by my final ever dealing with The Green Reaper online retailer.
I bought a drop spreader from the company last year and required a replacement part for this season.
I called 'Bob' at the company on February 12th this year and asked for the part to be ordered.
'I will look into this and call you back', he told me. This was a lie (I'll explain later)
Three weeks later having heard nothing I called the company once again and spoke to one of Bob's colleagues. 'Ah yes there is a note about this on the desk. I'll look into it and call you back' The call never came. This was lie number two.
I called a few more times and eventually was told that yes the part was on order.
Having heard nothing more I called again yesterday and was told by a different employee 'I will look into this and call you back'. Never happened. Lie number three.
I spoke to Bob again today, for the final time, and he informed me The Green Reaper couldn't get the part and they had cancelled the order.
However, he also admitted that had I not called the company they would never have informed me of the cancellation, because: "We never ever, call customers. We are an internet online retailer, it's not how we operate".
Well Bob, why do you and your staff routinely promise to do exactly that, knowing you will never make that call?
And as you are an online retailer, why not send me an email?
So there you have it, for deathly aftersales with a 'We will never, ever call you back" guarantee The Green Reaper is the company for you.
I now have a week to either source the part myself or, more likely, buy a new spreader so I don't let my customers down. Disgraceful service I would suggest.

Andy,
I received similar 'service' after buying a broadcast spreader. When I called Green Reaper for further information on setting spreading rates the lady I spoke to showed very little interest other than to say ' we buy them in from Belgium'. I have spent approx £1k with Green Reaper in the past 18 months but would seriously think hard about buying from them again. Cheap or not. You gets what you pays for.
Very true Paul,
To be fair they were pretty efficient when I was buying the spreader, it's the after sales, or lack of, where the problems lie.
The thing that infuriated me was that I gave them just short of seven weeks to get the part and they failed, leaving me without kit when I really need it.
If they had told me they couldn't get the part from the off it wouldn't be such a problem. They also admitted that they never chase up parts orders as "it's not something we do".
Think I will be looking to ALS for a new spreader.
Have you tried Abbey garden sales? I buy a lot of stuff from them, excellent customer service.
Cheers Chris,
Will give it a look.
