  Its the thought that counts :)

  My fav for this sort of thing is twice a year Hedge trim - She pays in loose change, all £75 of it.... bagged up - Always correct 100%...... but still In £1 and 50ps and the odd £20 of 20p....

  Money is money but still :)

  She makes a bloody good coffee though - in a pint mug - I leave buzzing!

  My favourites are the client who left the tea bag at the bottom of the cup, nearly choked! Best bit was it was a cup of coffee.

  Also the client who unknown to me had put a genorous shot of Baileys in my coffee, you gotta love em!

  I have an old lady customer who gives me random things alongside the payment every time i visit, the best ones that immediatly spring to mind are:

  • A packet of arabian date biscuits
  • three small jars of honey
  • a tin of John West salmon
  • half a bottle of lenor fabric softener
  • a couple of energy saving light bulbs

   

  really makes me laugh,

  I have to refuse gifts now!  A few ladies keep giving bottles of wine and buscuits "for your poor girlfriend, you should do the decent thing you'know!"

  oh and "keeps your energy up, and get a pint" followed by £3 and a pack of digestives... feel so bad taking them I have to refuse!

  Last year i was doing a garden tidy up for the elderly mother of another client. She has relatively bad dementia so all of the dealings were done with the daughter. While i was there working, around 12, she offered me some soup for which i thanked her but politely declined saying i had a packed lunch and flask of soup with me.

  Took about 30 mins to eat my lunch and then got back to work. about 10 mins later she appeared tray in hand laden with a large bowl of very heavy broth and some bread proudly proclaiming 'here's your soup'. She then stood and watched me 'enjoy it' I spent the next half hour doing light duties weeding a border. Nearly threw it all back up.

  Its good to get the little extras as it shows that the customers are thankful for what you do and that your treat them well charge a decent price without ripping them off and that they trust you.

  Yes, i agree, a few customers of mine have given me a little present after I've finished the job, all prettily wrapped up :) It's nice, makes you feel apreciated!
