a local gardening companies employee i know put a mower over his feet (wearing trainers) lost 3 toes ....yuck

  • When it's wet and my mower is constantly in need of clearing underneath I always leave the engine running whilst (gingerly) clearing the wet grass away as it's got a blade brake. This might sound gormless but is there a risk of the blade rotating again ?

I don't know how the blade brake works.

Do NOT fully trust a BBC, they can and do fail. Different makes use different designs. Always be sure the blade has stopped before delving your hand in and if unsure then switch the engine off.

Its best to kill the machine and remove spark plug cap before cleaning the underside. Short cuts often lead to an accident as my brother knows only too well after being silly with a mower and spending 3 months in hospital.
