Supporting your community, through Horticulture

Since we moved into Piddletrenthide, Dorset in July 2010, we have supported a couple of Village events.

Last Summer we had a plant stall at the Village Fete, and yes, you guessed, another Plant stand last December at the Xmas Fair. We gave a % of profit to local causes.

April 2012 gets more interesting when the Piddle Valley Garden Club (15-20 of them) have organised a visit to our Nursery. Having seen at last years Villlage Fete, the quality of the locally grown Vegetables produced by this group, the pressure is really on us for the Nursery to look great. We will be providing afternoon tea and cakes for our guests, just need to get more mugs by then!

Steve, the quiet, reserved half of T&S!!! has been invited a few days after the visit to sit on the panel of the Piddle Valley Gardeners Question time. I am going along just to heckle.

Steve has already told them, no questions on Bedding Plants or growing Vegetables, as he knows nothing about this. I might try and catch a few people before the meeting, tee-hee!!

"...need to get more mugs.." and chairs! In our experience a lot of garden clubbers come mostly for the social sit down and cup of tea - in the past we've borrowed chairs from the local village hall, but have spent the last year buying them when we see them cheaply on e-bay, so now have our own supply!

For some feedback on this event....

We had a very good day when the Piddle Valley Garden Club visited our Nursery. The Club appears really busy, and proof of this was, on the day, we had over 25 visitors.

For the Gardener's Question Time part, this was real fun, with 30+ attending, and taking part.

Moreover, the Club will re-visit our Nursery again in September, as they appeared to love it.

More importantly, as from our recomendations, three of our Landscape customers have gained work through this event.

Now that was the whole point of doing this, from our point of view.
