Shame their turf is so expensive - even with discount! Just laid 250m of the lovely stuff, green side up. Went to Paynes for it, better pricing! Used several tonnes of top soil too.

Oh well.

Was the price difference big or was it the delivery charges?

We've recently used ST and thought their trade price for small to medium quantities was competitive. Quality was good, service was friendly and prompt. We now have them listed in the office as a preferred supplier for jobs in the region.

Be interested to hear further info....

I must admit I can't fault their product, service or price and very handy being so local. Yes I could get turf a little cheaper but I am happy paying a few pennies more for the "quality package". Just waiting for a coffee machine to be installed in their office and I could pop in more often :-)

I think the price was some what higher than my preferred supplier, so wasn't worth changing over.
Shame really. Perhaps the potential buying club could make a difference?!

I am sure the buying club would make a big difference but sometimes going for the cheapest is not always a wise move over trusted suppliers. However no issues with ST.

With turf it usualy pays to stick local as hauladge is the biggest issue.

I use a local family firm a massive 3 miles from my door!!!

There is little or no alternatives for local turf suppliers. Closest is either Eastbourne or Southampton - am right in middle. Both are more expensive than Paynes turf - including delivery!

Stuart, Have you tried http://www.turfcentre.co.uk/ at Liss, Hants (it's just off the A3 nr Petersfield)?

Would that be a viable location/supplier ?

Cowpain Turf are suppliers of Q-Lawn in Horndean, Hampshire (PO8 0TB) but may be a tad too far for you.

But hang on this thread is all about Santa Tim's special offers not turf! :-)
