Hello all,
A customer of mine is very keen to have a slatted fence like in this picture.

I think I know how to do it as it looks pretty straight forward, I'm just in a bit of a bind as to what type of timber to use.
From a bit of googling I see that hardwood is used a lot, but they were AUS sites I looked at where hardwood is darn cheap.
So I was wondering - can anyone put me onto a good value hardwood, or B. advice on using a softwood, maybe even decking boards and then stain them?
Any info at all would be great, thank you!

As an alternative, why don't you contact Arnold Laver and look at using lengths of their cladding which as stock is kept in an un-machined profile which may suit slatted privacy fencing.
