I recently bought a second hand scag 36 walk behind. Ive been testing it out today to see what its like. It works very well on flat ground but when i try and go up a slope it really struggles.
It dosent stall or makes any funny noises but being a 16h kawasaki engine it should be flying up any hill!?
Help!!

Could be as simple as needing the hydraulic oil topping up.
Where did you get it from?
Sadly maybe this is the reason it was sold as repairs can be expensive on these machines.
bought it on ebay! works great on the flat! am i right to say that there is only one oil resovoir on this machine or is there two? dont have an instruction book!

I believe that when hydrostatic transmissions start to fail it happens when the machine has been working for a while and the oil is hot. This is what used to happen to a countax mower i had - it was fine for an hour of use and then it started to be troubled by inclines.

would that tank be the big black oil tank at the back of the machine?? soz if i sound a bit stupid!
Yes thats the 1
