Has anyone experienced a drop in quality with Rolawn Medallion turf recently? Just wondering if the wet weather in Yorkshire is causing problems.
We had to get a second batch this week which is clearly nothing like the quality of the first. The local distributors are saying all batches are coming in like that.
Any similar experiences?

Permalink Reply by Jill Crooks on July 19, 2012 at 19:58 Thanks for the feedback Sam, Aye and Susan. I hadn't appreciated the other changes being made to Rolawn.
Would be interested to hear how Q lawn compares.
Cheers
Permalink Reply by ian wright on July 21, 2012 at 11:41 I no longer use Rolawn after I had a bad experience with "sod death" which occurs when the turf gets overheated in the lorries. It looks fine when laying but soon dies. Rolawn refused to accept any responsibility but the supplier told me it had happened before and Rolawn always deny responsibility

I thought you'd like to know I contacted Rolawn because I believe in the right of reply and I never want LJN to be seen as just a place to criticise.
I know Rolawn are monitoring this thread but I'm disappointed they haven't bothered to respond.
Do we take it that Rolawn take this thread as unacceptable criticism, they don't care or the are so smug it doesn't matter?
Permalink Reply by Andy Westacott on August 2, 2012 at 20:57 I had a similar experience a good year or so ago. Had a large turfing job, used Rolawn as I always did back then and the quality was very poor, noticeably thinner than normal.
So I switched, found a couple of local good suppliers on and haven't gone back since.

Robert has also added a thread:What's happened to Rolawn? http://www.landscapejuicenetwork.com/forum/topics/what-has-happend-...

Hi Phil,
I think we have to be fair to Rolawn here, and not expect them to reply instantly to forum threads. We do forget that large companies can't give what is, legally, a written reply to comments that might involve claims for refunds etc.
That said, my local supplier doesn't use them. Is it Rolawn that has the awful netting under it, that catches in the strimmer when edging it?

Rolawn would like to thank the Landscape Juice Network contributors for their feedback on turf quality. We wish to point out that nothing has changed within Rolawn company philosophy which upholds turf quality as one of the key priorities. We take all customer issues seriously especially those concerned with quality, and as a result we investigate each and every one.
To demonstrate our efforts in not just maintaining consistent quality standards but improving on them, Rolawn would like to invite Landscape Juice or any of the members to come and visit our York based turf fields. We have always believed this is the most effective way for customers to see what we put in to producing our turf.
We invite any customer who wishes to arrange a visit or wants us to look into an issue to contact a member of our customer services team on 0845 604 6085 or email info@rolawn.co.uk or via http://www.rolawn.co.uk/contact-us.html
