Hi all,

I am thinking of putting my staff and myself through the Lantra ride-on mower certification.
Has anyone done this and was it worthwile. I do 95% commercial work and customers are kind of hinting that they want their contractors fully ticketed up. Have done strimmers and brush cutters, PA1 & 6 etc. any advice / comments appreciated

Yes, Lantra run the course. made enquiries about it when we were doing strimmers and brusccutters ticket at Oatridge College, West Lothian. I think you can arrange for the Lantra trainer to come to place of work to carry out the training

never even knew there was such a thing? I do an internal Training programme myself and it works a treat draw up your own schedual with a questionaire spend a few hours with your staff explaining everything about the mowers (you'll be amazed the weird questions that pop out) then have them do the questionaire. its all documented and saves you aswell i do this for all the machines. You have todo the pa's and H&S training by external. Most clients just want to know that your staff are trained to a good level.

where abouts are you based?
Yes i know, but operating a ride-on is completely different, especially as I have three staff and four different types and sizes of ride-ons. I also have an apprentice and unfortunatley his licence doesn't cover him for the ride on even though he can operate them all very proficiently. Just want to keep Health & Safety at the fore of my business. I have recently been accredited with "SAFEcontractor" certification. Thought this would be good way of proving it to my customers etc.
