if you have it done have set up on a dyno not a plug in chip
Most of these chip upgrades/re-mapping are designed to give you more power for much the same fuel consumption, unless you do considerable miles the fuel savings would be negligable, bearing in mind the initial cost of the upgrade which will be around the £250+ mark for a proper job, not just a chip piggy backed onto the existing ECU but a complete re -map or exchange unit

Is it worth mapping a fairly new van?
My van is 115ps. What could i expect to get extra PS from mapping the van?

from what ive read, most people say the power delivery becomes smoother with increased acceleration, with no increase in fuel consumption, assuming you dont have a heavy right foot!
If you want more power still, the mapping can again be changed to be more aggresive but then you could be increasing fuel consumption by a fair margin as well.
My new SWB 2007 Transit is 110ps and to be honest is economical and more than quick enough as is, i realise your tipper variant is probably much heavier though, an upgrade would undoubtably make a difference, but how big that difference is versus cost is always the problem. You wont know until you buy!
I was considering having any new van i bought 'chipped' but ive been pleasantly surprised with the power of the Transit so wont be bothering for now

Went to do this a couple of weeks ago for a postal re map on a 03 connect tddi. problems encountered -
factory fitted security bolt, I was told to remove this with an angle grinder, fair enough but I didn't have one at the time.
Also, as Anthony has mentioned above, most re mapping seems to be aimed at power increases. The economy as far as I understand it comes from the fact that with more power the less you have to put your foot down to make your van go???? simple??.
Another worry I had about re mapping is the undisclosed turbo and engine stress issues. Now I no that they will tell you this is dependent on how well your van has/and is looked after,but this is still something to be concerned about re mapping and .... surely it's so hard to prove even if something does go wrong???
In summary, unless I can get cast iron proof, guarantees and go there in person. Or if your van is that weak and fuel hungry.......??.
I personally wouldnt do it on a Vivaro, for a few reasons
Its has a weak gearbox as it is, the torque from the box will kill the bearings and you will regret it!
If the van is new, the clutch will hold out, anything over 50k your asking for it too slip
If you have a heavy load or trailor the wheels will spin very easy
I dount you will see much more mpg either, my astra van 150ps is mapped to 200ps or BHP in normal terms, the MPG is about 2-5 more at the most, that is on a run too. Doing short distance it doesnt make any difference
