Rainy days

What kind of work can guys on here do in the rain? On days like today (almost the whole UK is going to get hit at some point) I can struggle to find work to get on with. Any ideas? (Though today, I have some logs to split and 2 mowers to play with...)

Feels like we've had an unfair share of rain this last month and a half. It's so frustrating as I've lots of work still but just can't get it all done! If it's just showery we persevere with clearing leaves, hedge cutting and cutting down stuff that's gone over. If it's torrential like it is right now then I work on improving my web site or AdWords campaign.
  • Set your business up to assume there will be days when it's better not to work!

I try to average 40 visits per year: that might be weekly for most of the busiest 9 months, with a few courteousy visits in winter. Spread the cost over 12 months and all's good.

I won't be out this morning, what good could I do by walking on lawns even if there was work to do? The money's the same all year round, and I was working 7 days a week for a bit earlier this year.

Masses of paperwork to catch up on, and there's a tax return to think about before January. Equipment needs servicing, blades sharpeningetc., and the van needs a couple of bits doing so that'll be a rainy day job if I book it in. There's shopping to do, and Christmas presents to think about.

I know everyone's different, but I've always wanted to work the nice days, Saturdays and the odd Sunday included, but not be out in this weather. The money's the same, why suffer for it!

Off to set the valves on my 4-mix strimmer....

  • I Agree with Paul,

this morning i will be catching up on paper work and my accounts.. And this afternoon i will be going snowboarding as i was due to go on Sunday but spent the day pointing up a large patio because the weather was ok.

Blimey, where are you Matt? We've got heavy rain, but no snow here! :-)
  • Haha only indoor snowboarding i'm afraid lol, trade the rain for the artificial snow any day! :)

He's our Swiss LJN Correspondent :-)

It is very very wet out here....looking upwards doing minor tree works does not help .....

  • I have some Dahlias to clean up and get ready to store for the winter for a client. That's a garage job :)

    This could be an idea?

To prevent people from stepping on snails they pimp out their shells... Not sure of the views of the RSPCA - but it could be a wet weather craft with easy to get supplies when raining. To see more click here
