NFU, have done for the last 9 years, I use them for all my business and personal insurance.

My experience of NFU is that they are great to deal with in the event of a claim and having a local office and no foreign call centerers as well as a good prices and mutual bonus clinches it.
Nfu, great service
Direct line.
I have been with RBS as i bank with Natwest, they are good have been with them for 3 years, I am going to go over to the NFU this year though as i insure my van with them.
dont have any worries with regards to this, all my work is private gardens. and mostly on the ground, im going to give nfu and directline a look as they both seem pretty popular

ian be very carfull who you choose to regards of were you work etc , as alot of insurers will not insure you , for example high risk areas such as chemical plants etc , this is classed as high risk and your normal cover insurance companies do not deal with such insurance etc , all the named on this thread i cannot have insurance with because of this issue etc , if you dont work in these areas theres no prob of course , but just b aware that you may not be insurered depending on working locations etc !
Regarding Direct Line insurance, If I remember correctly they will ask you a question about whether you use any equipment that generates more than 90dba of noise. If you answer Yes, they will not insure you....

I did anwer Yes a few years ago as every bit of maintenance equipment we seem to use geneates more noise than this, including our Hayter mowers at the time. I did point out that probably most trades use machinery that makes noise. The answer was that their Underwriters had placed this limit on their policies - useful eh ?
From experience cheapest quote is not always the best and you only ever find out how good the company is when you make a claim.

I've used Direct Line ( private car insurance) and NFU ( business) and although not necessarily the cheapest buys they have delivered, efficiently when I've had a problem.
What sort of premiums are others paying for business insurance. I'm with the NFU and was content a few years ago but the premiums have now gone up to over £1000 and I'm starting to wonder. For comparison this is for standard professional liability for a limited company including employers liability with 3 employees, including cover for £6K tools and £9K other specified items, also includes trees up to 25m and indemnity for spraying. Is this premium in the right ball park or is something wrong
