I'm not entirely clear on the detail, but I believe there is a new government scheme, starting in April, where 16-18 year olds can be employed for very little to give them work experience. Now, I realise it may be considered taking advantage and you never know what you're getting. But, if you interview properley, you may get someone who turns out really good and helps your business grow.
There is also the apprenticeship scheme where you can sponsor a young person at college for about £100 pw.They tend to be one to three days a week at college and of course, only attend for about 30 weeks a year.
I'm waiting until April to see what the deal is as I don't have enough for a full time person but often need a helping hand.
