  • What sort of palm tree do you mean? I usualy class Trachycarpus fortunii as a palm tree. My regular supplyers are majestic trees tey are located about 1/4 mile of junction 9 of the M1 or Horticolour, they are located in a village called Studum witch is a further 2 or 3 miles of the M1 between dunstable and Hemel Hempstead. both have web sites:

    www.majestictrees.co.uk
    and
    www.horticolour.com
  • If you do mean Trachycarpus, try Palmstead Nurseries, or Europlants.
  • Thanks for those sites.
Cordyline Australis was what I was thinking of really. Or something similar anyway.
  • Euro Plants are good for those, also horticolour.

  • If you get stuck I can probably help you out Ben.
  • I know that you may need Cordylines this big for instant effect/screening but plants this big are going to set you back £100 ish each.

Why don't you suggest just buying some small £2.99 Corylines from any old garden centre. In 4 years time they will probably be taller than 6ft each and they will have sent up several 'pups' from the base that can be removed and replanted (these will probably themselves be taller than 6ft in 4 years).

If there is still some money in the pot, why not create a New Zealand themed bed with additional Phormium Tenax/Phormium Cookerianum and Dicksonia Antartica which you all find growing happily together in Southern N.Z.

This Cordyline 'pup' got this big in about 5 years!
