Oldest Tools ?

I was using my Wilkinson Sword shears this morning and realised that they  must now be over 30 years old & still going strong ..... made to last in those days ! Good old English name - used to represent quality but I guess made in China now ? Light weight and a joy to use
Only ever  needed one of the wooden handles glued back on .

Anybody here beat this ? What is the oldest bit of kit you use ?

  • i have a robinson bandsaw huge old thing made in 1909 and still going very strong and a stanley bedrock hand plain that is 1925.
  • My Grandads hoe, The end blade eventually wore through but because I was so used to the feel, bit like the wife, I made a new blade and welded it in. Good now for another 20 years, probably longer than the wife.
  • I was hoping to keep it clean Paul ;-)

  • I inherited load of tools when I was 15, I knew what I wanted to do from a young age!
Some of these tools must be 100 years old or so. My fave is an old fork, it like a boarder fork but the tines are only about 4 inches long, I use it for turning over light soil when I'm weeding etc.
My Great Grandad used it as a walking stick in his garden, the tines have a curve to there base from the motion of his steps!
