I designed a Zen couch lawn hedge for a client 12 months ago, and all has been going well until now. Hedging is easy and growth was constant until the over zealous wet weather hit a couple of weeks ago.

The problem is I have one of Queensland Top Garden Clubs coming in November to view this lawn art and the lawn is getting patchy in areas, due to the new growth having to be cut back hard in certain areas.

I would like some advice on what product to use that makes the lawn green but does not promote growth as that is the underlying issue causing the problem in the first place.

Hedge is 15m (long) x 4m (wide)

Thanks
Donna

This looks a wonderful creation and not what I imagined it would look like - Brilliant!

In light of the "structure" I would aim to spray rather than granule feed.
Hi Graeme,

Thanks for the feedback, glad you liked it as I dont do normal landscapes. I designed the sculptures as well, the forest is based on a dead Gidgee shrub (Acacia cambagei), which is found in Western Queensland and the Northern Territory. Client wanted something to remind him of the areas he lived in when he was younger, besides blow flies and dust storms.

The house yard is a cottage garden design that is made from weeds and hardy exotic plants. Very little maintenance just 10min mowing and 30mins hedging every week. Client wanted to push the boundaries of what constituted a garden.
#Hi ,
thats looks great really cool. I can also imagine children love it to playing there hours- well my daughters probably could. but not just for children the look is cool and very self stylish
great idea

ofer

Hi Stuart, no offense but that is what most men say! The exciting part about the hedge is that the next thing most men say is bring out the petrol hedger. They see it as a playing field for big boys toys.

That looks great but for some reason I have the urge to mow it lol Only joking Donna.
I've never seen this before and can see why Graeme has suggested spraying. Another brilliant from me too.
Well I wouldn't get the mower out.... i'd take my gloves off and give it a good old stroke!! It looks tactile and beautifully undulating!!

But surely kids running through it would trample it?????
There a lad in the uk that makes a maze, same way for children, .
he did it in few places parks and so and charge £1.00 to go in.

My girls loved that!
Hi Donna,

What treatment did you apply and does it look it's best ready for the visit?
Hi Graeme,

Great to hear from you, I have applied liquid iron which has worked really well. Still have a few parts of the lawn that have not greened up yet, but they are coming together. But this situation has brought on another solution to my problem. I become so concerned about the grass, that I asked the owner to invest in a fire pit that is approximately 6m long and about 4 meters wide, which I designed and he did. I will post photos tomorrow. Now the fire pit takes the attention away from the grass.

Let me know what you think after you have seen the photos:)
Hi Greame,

Here are the images of my fire pit as promised enjoy.
