Hello all,
In this months "KItchen Garden" magazine is my first full blown write up for a national magazine. Its all about a kitchan garden project I am running at Whitgift School in Grimsby and not only is it in the magazine its on line too: http://www.kitchengarden.co.uk/news/growing-gardeners-of-the-future with a picture gallery also!
Take a look, let me know what you think?

What a fantastic project John.
Its a sad fact that the last few generations have become totally removed from any aspect of food production.
This disassociation has ( with other factors) led to poor diets and environmental ignorance.
I would like to see more of this happening and more of the younger generations eyes being opened to fresh food andgrowing it - but fear that funding ( now) may be an issue.
Are you Lincolnshires answer to Jamie Oliver - do you say pukka?
Great article...very very well done JC.

My daughter teaches a nursery class and she gets them to grow potatoes, lettuces, cucumbers and tomatoes in containers and grobags. They also have a school gardening club for older children which she is involved in.

I have been talking to them on and off for a while. I emailed the editor Steve with the details and he siad could we do a monthly double page feature which of course I agreed to! :)

Permalink Reply by Fenlandphil on March 6, 2011 at 20:54 I will mention it to my daughter John thank you.
However if you can manage to pull it together into a book and publish it even in a small way it will give you great authority. As a published author, it will also establish you in peoples minds as a specialist or expert.
It seems to me you have made a good start by pulling the information together, the editorial mentioning the different planting ideas you were trying, in itself suggests a large breadth of knowledge and speaks of a large amount of research.

Fantastic John - very impressive. Love the mix of techniques and produce. Would be interested to learn how this is being funded - or are you doing it as a volunteer?
Another project that you might find interesting is the Incredible Edible movement -check it out here. http://www.incredible-edible-todmorden.co.uk Started in Todmorden and has now spread...
