An American tree worker has died by decapitation after a tree line, used for lowering branches to the ground, became wrapped around his neck as he fed the branches into a wood chipper, reports the Telegraph.

"The gruesome accident happened in Tampa, Florida, USA, where Vargas, 44, was part of a five man crew trimming trees on a suburban street.

"He was feeding branches into the chipper when a rope that had been used by one of the tree trimmers somehow slipped over his neck.

"Unable to reach the emergency shut off button, Vargas desperately tried to avoid being dragged head first into the machine where he would have been chopped to bits."

The thought of this kind of accident just fills me full of dread. There's no way in this world that anyone should go to work and never come home again.
Heli loggers, they are lunatics, unfortunatly this does happen. I think it was last year over the pond in the good ol USA when actually a groundsman was dragged through a chipper after being caught up by the brush. At that time not all of of the chippers had bars around the mouth which would act as an emergancy cut off when preassure was placed by the body. The climber was unaware of what happened until he called out to the grounds. By this time he had already gone through the chipper.

I agree, sounds like hes tried to remove the lowering rope whilst balancing the brush in the mouth of the chipper

sad. dangerous equipment..
I have worked in the USA and after spraying Mexicans with hydra seed so they cant move, travelling to a job with a crew of 6 in a three seated truck and seeing brush cutter fights with three prong disks, I would believe anything that happens in the USA!

I must say though, I do have lots of very professional landscape friends out there who don’t do that and do some remarkable work!

I feel sorry for the tree surgeon though.
top 10 most dangerous job in the world !!
