Loading restrictions

I have been approached by a London hospital to undertake landscaping works to a property adjacent the highway. The work involves landscaping & excavation works to the rear of the property and then bringing all materials in and out through the building. At this stage I am costing the project to see if they will have the funds for the project to go ahead. The problem I have at this stage is the main road on the front has no loading/waiting restrictions and is a main road Does anyone have experience in obtaining the necessary consents as I seam to be passed from dept to dept Highways say apply to Parking for suspension to the no loading restriction. Parking says I should apply to highways for a road closure as its no loading :-/ Does anyone have similar experience in this situation and any advice as to the best way to approach this?

Many thanks in advance

Clive

  • Ive had a job on a 30-40 mph  main road for an insurance company .

we had to have traffic lights with chapter 7 (highways act)  to enable us to work legally and safe.

    speak to local highways dept.

  • Hi Robin

I think you are referring to chapter 8 of the traffic signs manual relating to temporary street works. We have been in contact with the Local highways but they as jet havent been forthcoming

    Thanks
