I would like some advice on laying 100 x100 x100 granite blocks,i have to go round a circular water feature i.e would you lay them on a wet mix then how do you grout them,do you use something like Marshalls weather point or brush in soft sand mix.

Thanks Tony

Hi Tony, wet point them with a soft/sharp mix, adding a spot of colour dye if you want. Have a sponge / bucket of water near by to wipe off excess. Dry mix etc will not bond to the granite, subsequently it wont last.
How many rings are you putting around the water feature? If its only 1 or 2 why not butter them like bricks.

I think it will be 4/5 wide so they can walk round it.

The bedding layer should be 4 parts sharp sand / 1 part cement laid semi dry.  I would avoid using a dye as in my experience they never give the desired colour.  Products like easipoint are the way forward if you are looking for a specific pointing colour.  The sweep in jointing compounds are very quick for pointing setts.  Are the setts rough or sawn?

Cheers Steve

The setts are rough sawn from Bradstone,i like the sound of easipoint,do you have to buy from them or will local merchants sell it.

Thanks for the info

Contact easipoint to find a local stockist.
