I am going to check the number of insects in a two foot

square area of lawn that has not been treated for the last

seven years, and compare it to a similar area from a lawn

that has been treated for the last seven years.

The soil will also be sifted to find worms etc.

My question is this, how do I check these areas of turf

for insects ?

We are having really wet conditions in Devon at the moment, so all

testing will have to wait until the sun comes out again.

I think that'll be enough, giving a result that will become increasingly useful as more and more locations are measured.

Another chemically free bit of turf that has beem mulched for at least

15 years. The 4 to 5 cm section of roots creating a soft springy area is there,

but the roots are finer than the other mulched chemically free turf section.

And the garden, the turf section was dug up well away from trees.
