Hi Offer,

I would recommend Peter at Ace Computers in Albrighton - nice and local and good support as well.

He supplied my latest laptop at a very competitive price and we have used his company for a few years now for IT support and have been very satisfied with his service.

Maybe worth a phone call.

All I can add is that some computer companies don't check the product before it's shipped. They work on the principle that most people never complain, and if you do it's cheaper for them to replace the product despite it losing all your precious data. Whether I'd been told that by a courier who worked for the company you mention, as I returned my computer that had let me down, I cant remember. ;-)

Get a local specialist to either build you one for the same cost tailored to your needs, or at least he could recommend the best model for you? Don't get sucked in by brochures through the door offering deals that look too good to be true, as we keep telling our customers!

Locals good Paul and that's why I recommended the above company as they are about 20 miles from Offer.

buy direct, maybe get free bag and warrenty (but warrenty not worth paper written tbh

)  i got a printer free from dell 5 yrs ago.

Hello Ofer,

Dell is a great name, but you can get the same quality with your local computer shops...

7 yrs ago I got a high end Dell desktop Computer, paid quite the price had all the features, but the problem was it only lasted 4 and a bit yrs, until a main switch went...I called Dell and you know they said they do not have any parts for that model anymore it is to old...

The computer tech who looked at it said, with Dell computers you need Dell parts, its better to go with a different make unless you want to buy a new one every 2 yrs...

My advice, shop around locally first and good luck :)))

I bought my laptop from Staples reasonable spec reasonable price.

I have a Dell, Bought it direct from dell, never any issues, great spec, yes you can buy same spec different make cheaper, however if this lap top failed I would get another Dell.

I have heard they are hard to add hard wear to as they will only accept Dells own expensive hardwear upgrade so make sure the computer you require does all it needs to.

Bought direct from dell on line.

Many thanks all,

I was really desperate at the time, and I found that when I see things that are not 'kosher' - It really drive me mad.

I first wanted dell as they sent me some good offers to here- few times.  It is when I rang and had to deal with their support in India- they promised a discount on the deal and sent e-mail with £50.00 extra on the deal price on their that they sent me.

You would  have think it can be a mistake, but I tried to ring few times- and it was really bad when they say that they will ring back in 10 min and ring back in 3 hours-  after 3rd time I loose my trust- sorry that's me.

I found a good acer in an Ace price online last night and fingers cross.

Negotiating with a young Indian that keep telling me to wait till he will give me a better deal - ''No Sir".

Do not get me wrong nothing against Indians or any one - but this type of customer service - will drive mad anyone.  Many thanks again to you all! and really best wishes for this coming spring

Ofer

Hi thank you Jenny,

I will for sure, remember for next time.  As I found that more and more large firm have fairly bad customer service. A good friend explained to me that most cases the stock investors likes to see fast return on investment - so cutting customer service is one way.

I am not sure if it always been like that? or just recently- for me it was a surprised but I heard it is like a worldwide trend. ( I never had to pay extra tel charges to ring customer services ion israel- but that might have change too). Even Google seems to make it difficult - if you ever need to contact them.

( I paid last week with google checkout and the lady at the shop said she has not yet see the transaction. Even I had an email from google saying that there was a transaction. It was all sorted after few calls to the shop- where they confirmed that money arrived at last. But It was very difficult to try and find even a contact us email to google checkout - and there was a replay only after 24 or 48 hrs.

I remember paypal used to have bad customer service but these days it is the best you can find, same with Amazon. There is an ancient say in hebrew that say ''better a to have good name than good oil'' .
