  • how about a heli pad....

  • My suggestion would be to plant using some shade loving plants. Ferns are always a good idea under trees and will give good coverage. If you try to cover the area with shingle or something decorative, the debris from the trees will only cause problems and weeds. Bark is always a good thing to cover a banked bed, but planting will look best, especially to break up the hard landscaping, which looks extensive already.
  • 1. Mend the fence so that it doesn't need the buttresses that are intruding into the growing space.

    2. Plant up with Aucuba japonica, Mahonia Meda 'Charity, Hydrangea aborescens 'Annabelle', a varigated Holly (i.e. Ilex altaclerensis 'Golden King') and maybe some Sarcococca confusa at towards the front for winter scent and ground cover (and should hide the exposed tree roots in time).

    3. Prune once a year. All are shade tolerant and with the exception of the Hydrangea are evergreen so will give year-round low maintenance interest. The light white and yellow blooms and variegated foliage should light up what looks like quite a shady area
    Hope that helps!

  • I'd fell that Beech and grind the stump before the roots start lifting that brick paving.

Good advice Chris. The Birch could cause problems too in the future.
