There's a lot to SEO - read Google's starter guide to SEO - and the dynamic changes all the time.
Facebook is the largest social media platform in the world with over 800 millions users. Facebook is phenomenon so you wouldn't think Landscape Juice could compete, would you?
You'd be surprised. As an experiment, Google your name or business name together with a couple of search words that might explain your business activities.
Obviously a potential client is unlikely to Google your name because they don't know you yet but this experiment gives you an idea of what site ranks your business higher...LJN or Facebook.
I'm not suggesting anyone ditches Facebook because it has real benefits but opportunities are more likely to come from friends and family rather than new business from people or others businesses seeking a specific service.
Of course you will find exceptions in the above experiment but this should give you an idea.
Give it a try...I'd be interested in your results.

Yes Martin...Yell are working really hard on their online content and SEO. There again they have to, it's their only lifeline.
It's also worth keeping an eye on Yell's social media tips...they're top tips.

(1) Linkedin
(2) landscapejuicenetwork
(3) mibservices.co.uk

For us it is
our site - www.peterwoolnough.co.uk
2nd - www.thomsonlocal.com
3rd - www.linkedin.com
4th - www.landscapejuicenetwork.com
8th - Facebook
It most certainly is a minefield to getting it right, but LJN does perform very well, for almost zero effort on our behalf and its free of course.

Bear in mind that Google also recognised your previous surfing history and your own returns maybe slightly scewed by the sites you visit the most.

With that in mind I went and cleared my browser history and cleared my cache, searched under the following term, " brian moore mib services landscape maintenance ", and resulted in the following
1 ljn
2 linkedin
3 mibservices.co.uk
Facebook didn't show at all, other pages also contained a lot of both ljn and mib results
