I would like to find a lady gardener to work within my team, I already have three wonderful boys and one lovely lady. To balance the team I need another lady. Where oh where do you find them. I've tried gumtree which normally brings lots of responses and also the local college. We are not allow to advertise for a lady because its sexist!!

Hi Caroline, - Are you near me? - from your telephone number I think you're down the A3, - if you are let me know as I may have a contact for you.
Claire, I am down A3 Farnborough but we work all over guildford, godalming, woking, etc.

I'd be grateful!

Thanks

Caroline

I advertised for a gardener in 1987, to help with my burgeoning maintenance round. Sue Newman applied for the job; Sue could only work part-time because she had two young son's - the arrangement suited me and Sue worked with me for about eighteen months as she set up her own landscape and garden maintenance business.

...and she's still going strong and a member of this site:-0)

I spoke to a manager who works at Job Centre plus and she has advised that you are careful how you word your job advert: it's illegal to advertise a position that discriminates on the basis of sex (although she did explain that you should get in touch at Job Centre plus.)

Have a read of this - Sex discrimination and equal pay
