I simply like the fact they get what we do....go find how many other 'business solution suppliers' out there match their approach (especially in UK ;-).

The blogs are especially welcome, thought provoking and more importantly relevant, but to benefit you need to be interested "in your business", just not "doing your business". Those that make time, ultimately benefit.....

  • Does Jobber have an estimating system in it which can calculate the price of a job, like SA.

Depends on what you mean by estimating....

What type of work are you trying to estimate - Mow Blow & Go, Lawncare, Maintenance, Landscaping, one-offs or recurring ?

I know you had gone the SA route - has that worked out ?

  • Hi Gary.
Yes I am using SA and I have to say that there has been quite a dramatic improvement over the last few months.
The one thing I like about SA is that you can insert all your prices, so that when you do a quote all you need to do is insert the measurements of whatever your quoting for, and it automatically produces the quote for you.
For example. If a customer wants fortnightly lawn mowing, lawn treatments 4 times a year, lawn aeration, and scarifying, it will produces a quote with all the line items and prices calculated on the area to be worked.

Ok,so assume you're using the SAP "Pro" product @ $80 pm, as you need that to perform 'estimating'?

    While on the subject, a couple of Q's;

How do you find SAP handles 'Sales Tax, or our VAT?

Is there any news on their native Android/iOS App yet ?

From your question, are you looking to change then ?

One seems able to do similar in Jobber, QXpress, RG etc as all can handle basic Estimating and Quoting. Personally, I would not call this estimating (such as LiberRate etc provides) but more simple quantitative pricing system, but that is often all that is needed and importantly if works than that is cool.

  • We find it handles everything great.
Their App is supposed by available soon.
I don't know anything about LibeRate, but I guess the system in SA must be similar, where you can put in all your services, products and prices to build up a quote however you like.
Adding all the services, products and prices etc takes a long time to build up and get it right, but we are gradually getting the gist of the system.
Also it records all your emails to customers, and replies, as well as doing basic marketing.

Sounds good and seems that SAP and Jobber have similar functionality, especially around marketing and emailing.

We have not chosen yet, but as you are a SAP user I wanted to ask what SAP reports & formats are like ? How customisable are they ?

I looked could not get a clear understanding, but some reports and invoice layouts need changing to support VAT (ie show it correctly labelled, be able to show VAT number & Co Number).

Check out LiberRate - it is one of the best UK landscape estimating packages. Jobber, SAP et al are nowhere near this level of estimating, merely providing basic pricing functionality

The packages are moving at a fast rate, I like the last couple of Jobber updates that give Xero integration and a functional report generator.

Once SAP & Jobber  native Apps are available it will provide many useful options

p.s what SAP option/package did you choose ?
