Your network profile isn't just there for the benefit of other network members it's also the information (or lack of it) that will or will not, get you found in search results.

The about section of your profile is a limitless expandable CV where you can add details of services and/or products as well as add photos and videos. You have full html control - although there is no html editor available in the box  so if you are unsure then use one of the html editors (in html mode and not rich text) on a blog or forum page then cut and paste into the about section on your page.

If you are only concerned with working within a certain radius of your base then use local place names to define your areas of operation. Make sure also that you are concise when listing your range of operations. If you are a landscaper but also carry out garden maintenance operations then clearly state this.

Another worthwhile tip is to add details of the types of materials you work with: mention brand names too.

I'll hold my hands up Phil - I hadn't reviewed my profile content since the day I joined LJN.

I've now made a few basic improvements but I'm sure there is more I can do to improve the content.

A timely reminder to all.

Good reminder Phil, i've gone and updated mine. - Can I also suggest that if you want both potential clients, suppliers and colleagues from this site to find your contact details, it would be better to have your profile information at the top of your page rather than your latest activity.

to do this click and drag the profile information from the bottom of the page to the top.

Thanks Claire - like Gaynor I've just done that as well. Thanks for the info.

Good point Claire

There's a bit more info on this older post (see second comment) about how to set your profile image.

Having checked out several profiles this evening, I just thought I'd remind everyone about this discussion, that it's a great idea to keep updating your profile and ensure that all the areas that you work in are mentioned.
Thanks Claire for the reminder and useful info.
