Ive been asked to quote for grass cutting at this site in an industrial estate. The site is about 2 acres in total, consisting of 3 steep banks and a small flat area to the front, the area shown in the photo is actually the least steep part of it. I reckon the majority of it would be too steep for a standard ride on but i dont fancy having to use a brushcutter on at least 1.5 acres of grass every 4 weeks! Grass can be discharged/mulched. Any ideas?

I would recommend a ferris/scag or great dane type mower for that site and 48" will cut an acre and hour easy. If you want to be lazy and sit down a an etesia attila would be great.

Many moons ago i used to do a similar sort of site.
I used a twin wheel Hayter Condor on the less steep areas and a dedicated bank mower on the really steep sections, unfortunately the make escapes me, but it was a great machine pedestrian, 60" cut and didn't stand more than 12" off the ground all in, excluding the handles. It could cut where i had problems walking. It had a shaft drive via UJ between the power head and deck. If the make comes to me i will let you know but it used to make sites like this a doddle.

get one of these

Maybe you cant tell from the photo but the bank is way too steep for a ride on, it would tip over easily. The bit round the other side is even worse, the majority of this site will have to be done with a brushcutter i reckon, or possibly a scag type mower.

We finally got round to doing the first cut at this site today, another month had passed since i took that photo so the grass had grown even longer and it was raining heavily all day. I decided to hire out an Etesia Attila, what a great little machine! The low centre of gravity and chevron tyres give it amazing traction, even long wet grass was no problem for it, and the rear diff lock gets it up even the steepest of slopes. Just glad i hired out a machine rather than using my own as i drove over all sorts of crap in there including an iron rebar, a brush, a traffic cone and countless pieces of rubbish. I was able to do about a third of the overall site with the Atilla while the boys did the rest with brushcutters.

Do you send prospective lttters etc to owners/landlords/facilities managers of these estates.
Cheers Charlie
