Hi Dan, on a job like this I have hired in a Bobcat skidsteer with a rotorvator attachement, hired in costs were £275.00 per day for machine and operator. Done it in no time. The machine also had a landrake attachment. Piece of cake. I wouldn't advise trying to do it with a pedestrian rotorvator, not at that slope.

I would say the same as paul as im from a farming background my dads a farm manager so its easy to get big kit. try agricultural contractors or hiring a compact tractor with rotovator?

In the far east, Europe, south america - everywhere that slope and growing are together - there is and was one winning solution terraces. In modern life it looks like being ignored and people try to use silly nettings and other silly ideas- silly as it is difficult to maintain while on terraces you turn the slope to small levels areas that can be used.
With the edgings i have it is dead easy to built modern terraces. and cost effective too.
Again I do not know about your project and do not try to flog it to you as Paul may say , but for other to being found in same situations and looking for answe
